The Best Poster with All Six Elements

There are six elements of design that must be accounted for when designing posters, flyers, banners, etc. Those elements are line, shape, size, color, value, and texture.

The Best That I've Found

A poster advertising On-Site Painting at Casco Histórico La Serena

Line

Only a single line was used in this poster; dividing the different categories and the description for each categories at the bottom of the poster. The line makes the words look more orderly and neat, helping any onlookers to read the information with less difficulty.

Shape

The shapes used in this poster are plenty. From the obvious large paint stroke to the little windows and doors of the building that consists of squares and rectangles and the thin rectangles that line the sidewalk.

Size

The large paint stroke takes up almost half of the poster. The text beside it is in big font to indicate that it is the most crucial information from the poster. At the top left of the poster is a text that is smaller in size, yet big enough to catch people's attention. The text comprises of information on the date, time, and place of the activity. The next important text is at the bottom of the poster, even smaller in size, which informs us about the different categories. Lastly, they put a link to the website below the list of categories for anyone who would like to look up for more information regarding the activity.

Color

Aside from the black fonts and the white background, vibrant colors were used in the paint stroke. Blue was used for the sky, and a combination of red, orange, brown and green were used for the buildings.

Value

The most obvious contrast in this poster is the blank canvas as the background and the colorful paint stroke. Another contrast is the texts and the background. They made the fonts black so that the words would stand out and are readable to the people.

Texture

This element of the poster is what made me choose this as the best poster with all six elements of design. Instead of leaving this poster having no texture like most posters do, they gave this poster a texture that is similar to that of a canvas painting; referencing that the activity they will be holding relates to painting.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!
